I work with clients from a wide variety of backgrounds, but the key element for coaching to be as beneficial to you as possible is that you are 100% committed to wanting to make the changes necessary to move forward in your life.
Coaching is all about focusing on the present and where you want to go in the future, whilst looking back from time to time to acknowledge how certain experiences in the past have shaped you into the person you are today. Although this is sometimes necessary, this deep past is not an area where we will sit and dwell, and for the majority of time we will not explore this.
If you are currently seeing a counsellor, therapist, or other mental health professional, I suggest continuing your work through with that specialist first, prior to coming to coaching. As counselling and therapy focuses predominantly on the past to help resolve short or long term underlying issues and deep healing. It is best that you complete this journey before then shifting your attention onto the future, which coaching requires you to do.
